Shower Fittings
Introduction

Today's showers can have a multitude of fittings, not just a single showerhead.
Walk into a bathroom design showroom, and you might find a shower that has as many water-dispensing fittings as it has tiles on the wall. Maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but there’s no denying that one major trend in showers is the use of multiple showerheads and bodysprays in custom units. These custom showers can have a main showerhead, a handheld spray, and four or more bodysprays.
Of course, this trend hasn’t made its way into most homes. The majority of us are happy to have one showerhead that shoots out hot water with good pressure.
Still, whether you’re a single-showerhead person or you aspire to have multiple fixtures that shoot water into your shower, it’s important to know your options. The following pages will discuss:
In addition to purchasing a showerhead, you will also need a corresponding shower valve and valve trim. Shower valves are available in two forms: pressure balance and thermostatic. Continue reading for more information about these valves.
For tub and shower combination units, you’ll also need a tub filler. Visit our section on tub faucets for more information.
